So reihen sich Kölns Hochhäuser ein, stünden sie in Frankfurt
Köln ist die Hochhausstadt Nr. 3 in Deutschland, wenn auch der Dom das Wahrzeichen
bleibt. Wie in den meisten deutschen Städten stehen die höheren Nachkriegsbauten
außerhalb des Zentrums. In Köln akzentuierten sie bislang die großen Ringstraßen. Im Mediapark,
einst das Gelände eines Güterbahnhofs und nun ein City-Erweiterungsgebiet, und nahe am
Messegelände wachsen Ensembles postmoderner Solitäre heran. Im Mediapark steht das
höchste Haus, der Köln-Turm.
Cologne is Germany's highrise city Nr. 3, even if the world famous
cathedral remains the landmark. As in most German cities the higher postwar's buildings
are located outside of the center. In Cologne they accented so far the large circular
through roads. In both Mediapark, once the area of a goods station and now a city
center extension area, and near the fair grounds, clusters of postmodernism-style
solitairs grow up. In Mediapark the highest highrise, Köln-Turm,
is located.
